New Project

The Gulf Coast Allstars are launching a new collaborative music project, and we want you involved. We’re inviting musicians from across the entire Gulf Coast to unite on one iconic song. That song is “All Along The Watchtower,” reimagined through the voices and instruments of our region. This project is about community, creativity, and celebrating the deep musical roots of the Gulf Coast. We want guitar players, singers, drummers, bass players, keyboardists, horn players, and beyond. If you make music in any form, there is a place for you here.

Participants will record an audio track playing or singing their part of the song. You will also record a simple video of yourself performing that same part. Our team will professionally mix and master the final audio performance. We will then create a powerful video montage featuring every participating musician. The finished video will showcase the collective talent of the Gulf Coast music community.

This is not a competition, and there is no audition process involved. It’s about collaboration, connection, and making something meaningful together. You can record from a home studio, rehearsal space, or wherever you feel inspired. All experience levels are welcome, from seasoned professionals to passionate local artists. This project is designed to spotlight unity through music, not individual spotlight moments.

You’ll be part of a lasting visual and musical document of Gulf Coast creativity. If you’ve ever wanted to collaborate beyond borders, this is your opportunity. All Along The Watchtower – Collaboration Project Instructions

We’re using the original Jimi Hendrix arrangement for this project.
You’ll receive two files:

• 📄 Written arrangement (text file)
• 🎧 Reference audio track

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Download both files
   • The written arrangement
   • The audio track
2. Import the audio track into your DAW or recording system
   (Logic, Pro Tools, GarageBand, Reaper, Ableton, etc.)
3. Learn your part
   • Choose your role: drums, rhythm guitar, lead guitar, bass, piano, percussion, etc.
   • Follow the arrangement and reference track.
4. Record your performance
   • Set up a phone or camera so we can clearly see you playing.
   • Record video while you play along with the audio track in your DAW.
   • Make sure your performance is tight and in sync with the track.
   • Name both the audio track and the video file as: [your name]-[your town] eg. “bobsmith-mobileal.mp3”
5. Send us your video file
   • Video files are large, so please use Dropbox, Google Drive, or another cloud service.
   • Share the download link with us.
   • Send files to allstarsgateway@gmail.com

We will be sending out emails once confirmed to the project. PLEASE check your spam folder.
